Longer ago than he cares to - or indeed can - remember, George started
out in radio comedy, where he quickly became script editor of Week Ending before going on to
become lead writer on The News Quiz and to work on programmes including Dead
Ringers, Loose Ends and, to his surprise, the Woman’s Hour 50th Anniversary
Special. He adapted Karel Capek’s War
with the Newts for Radio 3 and Stephen Potter’s Upmanship books for Radio 4 and worked with Patrick Barlow to bring the adventures of Nigel Molesworth to life.
In television
George has worked on award-winning programmes from Smack the Pony to Horrible
Histories, taking in everything from The
Weakest Link to Mock the Week to Panorama. He also enjoys the challenge of work as a script editor and storyliner bringing an understanding of a writer’s
thought-process to the job of ensuring the best possible scripts are delivered
on time. Among his script-editing projects was the International Emmy Kids' Award-winning Hank Zipzer's Christmas Catastrophe.
George wrote puzzle-adventure Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery and was narrative designer on Book of Potions from J.K. Rowling. He has particular skill in dealing with the challenges of peripheral-based gaming, having worked on series such as Eyepet and Buzz! as well as Book of Potions in addition to developing new narratives for VR gaming.
George’s work
for corporate clients has seen him bring together the skills he acquired as a
barrister – particularly the ability to understand a brief fully and quickly
and to communicate complex ideas simply and accessibly – with his
comedy-writing to help clients impart information entertainingly and
memorably.
When not
writing, George enjoys books, music, theatre, film and, much to his astonishment, jogging.
